If a touch-up is needed, please reach out between days 10-14 post-treatment. Treatment lasts 3-4 months for most patients. Botulinum Toxin “A” is administered by several very small injections, and with any injection, there is a risk of infection and/or bruising. Do not consume alcohol at least 24 hours prior to treatment, as alcohol can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising. Avoid anti-inflammatory and blood thinning medications, if allowed by your provider, for at least one week prior to treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Advil, vitamin E, fish oil, CoQ10, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, and St. John’s Wort have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising. You should schedule your appointment at least four weeks prior to a special event. Botulinum Toxin “A” treatments must be after any same-day facial treatments. Laser, peel, or microneedling treatments must be completed at least two weeks prior to Botulinum Toxin “A” treatment. If you have a history of cold sores on your face, please let your provider know at least one week in advance, as you may need to be pretreated with an anti-viral medication prior to your appointment.
Botulinum Toxin “A” takes approximately 10 days to be fully effective. We would like to see you after two weeks for a follow-up assessment appointment, especially after your first treatment, to see how your facial muscles reacted to your treatment. You should book your follow-up at the time of treatment. Before day 10, as your treatment begins to settle and take effect, at times, you may notice one eyebrow, for example, may raise higher than another, or forehead movement may still be present. If after 10 days you still have an apparent imbalance, we are happy to make an adjustment and touch-up where necessary. Please call to make an appointment if you don’t already have one scheduled. You are charged for the amount of product used at touch-ups. Do NOT lie down, and DO remain upright for at least 4 hours after your treatment. Do not receive facials, laser treatments, peels, or microneedling for at least 72 hours post-treatment. If you are unsure of timing, call your provider. Avoid exercise, saunas, sweating, and strenuous activities for 24 hours. Do NOT manipulate the areas treated and avoid massages and massaging of the face for 72 hours post treatment. Avoid wearing tight-fitting hats or headgear post-treatment for 24 hours. This is important to avoid moving the neuromodulator from its injection site. With any injection, there is always the risk of infection or bruising post-treatment. Makeup may be applied gently 4 hours after treatment. Treatment lasts 3-4 months for most patients. Retreatment is required to maintain results.

Please review your consents and advise your provider of any changes in your medical history or current health. Microneedling works by creating microscopic channels in the skin with a sterile needling device. This process activates the body’s natural healing process and collagen production to restore and rejuvenate the skin’s appearance. We recommend retreatment within 4-6 weeks and a series of 4-6 treatments combined with Medical Grade Skincare to maintain optimal results. Alert your provider to recent Accutane use. Accutane can dramatically increase skin sensitivity and affect results. Discontinue the use of topical products that may increase skin sensitivity, such as retinols, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, acids that may be drying or irritating to the skin (such as alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) beta hydroxyl acids (BHA), exfoliating masks, salicylic acids, hydroquinone, and benzoyl peroxide acne products) a minimum of 3 days prior unless otherwise directed by your provider. Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores at least one week prior to your appointment, as you may need to be pretreated with an anti-viral medication for this treatment. On the day of your treatment, please arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and topical products.
Avoid touching the area treated. If you must touch the area, thoroughly wash hands prior to reduce the risk of transferring bacteria to the freshly treated skin. Microneedling makes microscopic channels (needling) in the skin that can remain susceptible to infection. Your provider will advise you on post-treatment skincare and serums. No makeup for at least 24-48 hours post-treatment. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or tanning for a minimum of 2 weeks. Wear a hat and reapply physical sunscreen as needed. The skin is fresh and can be more prone to burning or discoloration while healing. Avoid jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms/baths, or strenuous exercises or activities that cause sweating for 24 hours due to open pores or up to 48 hours if inflammation exists. Ensure your pillowcase is clean, and try to sleep on your back. It is recommended to clean makeup brushes and pillows or other items that may come in contact with the face or injection sites to reduce the risk of contamination or infection. In the days post-treatment, you may notice minor flaking or peeling of the skin, this is normal. DO NOT pick at the skin. Keep the skin moisturized and allow the skin to heal naturally. Do not force exfoliation. If you experience a minor breakout post-treatment, alert your provider, and they may recommend a topical or oral product depending on the severity and type of breakout. We recommend retreatment within 4-6 weeks and a series of 4-6 treatments combined with Medical Grade Skincare to maintain optimal results. The use of a physical sunscreen SPF 35+ is required for at least 2-4 weeks post-treatment.

Discontinue the use of topical products that may increase skin sensitivity, such as retinols, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, acids that may be drying or irritating to the skin (such as alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) beta hydroxyl acids (BHA), exfoliating masks, salicylic acids, hydroquinone, and benzoyl peroxide acne products) for a minimum of 7 days prior unless otherwise directed by your provider. NO natural or artificial tanning or sun exposure for four weeks prior to your appointment. Exposure within four weeks will result in treatment being rescheduled. Avoid spray tans and self-tanners and ensure they are no longer present on your skin for your treatment. The use of physical sunscreen is required for at least four weeks prior to treatment. If the treatment area is hairy, please arrive with freshly shaved skin. It is especially important for laser hair removal treatment to arrive with freshly shaved skin. Dark hair, especially, can increase the risk of burning. On the day of your treatment, please arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and topical products.
Patient response can vary after hair reduction treatment. Erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) around the hair follicles in the treated area are sometimes noted within a few minutes after completion of the procedure and are typically completely resolved within 24-48 hours. A sunburn sensation in the area treated is also normal and expected. The treated area must be treated with care. BE GENTLE! Do not scratch or pick at your skin. Until sensitivity has completely subsided and at least 24 hours post procedure, avoid all of the following: Applying makeup, scented lotions or soaps, deodorants, exfoliant creams (Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic and alpha-hydroxy acids), acne creams or gels, loofa sponges and aggressive scrubbing in the treated area; hot or cold water (wash with tepid water); shaving; swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine; and activities that cause excessive perspiration. A cold compress or an ice pack can be used to provide comfort within the first 12 hours. Vitamin E or Aloe applied to the treatment area may provide a soothing effect. Post-treatment discomfort is typically minimal, but oral pain relievers may be used, such as Tylenol or Motrin. In the unusual case of crusting of the skin in the treated area, an antibiotic ointment is applied twice a day to the affected areas. Do not pick at these areas, which may result in infection/scarring. If the skin is broken or a blister appears, apply an antibiotic ointment and contact the office immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight. In rare cases, hives have been reported after laser hair reduction treatments. If you experience an irritated raised rash, contact the office. Benadryl may be taken to help relieve the itchiness. Do not use any other hair removal methods or products on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments, as it will prevent you from achieving your best results. Strictly avoid any sun exposure to the treated area for a minimum of 7-14 days after treatment. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change. Keep the area covered and use a sunblock with a protection factor of 35+. Delayed blistering secondary to sun exposure has been noted up to 72 hours post-treatment. Hair may take up to 4 weeks to fall out following treatment. Do not be alarmed if hairs appear to be growing during this time. Subsequent treatments are based upon your clinician’s recommendation and are typically 4-8 weeks apart. The number of treatments required will depend upon the body location, the amount of hair present, the character of the hair, and your skin type. Please call the office at 208-395-1091 with any questions or concerns.

Redness, warmth, and a sunburned sensation are normal responses following laser treatments. The discomfort and redness generally last 2-4 hours after the procedure. Cool compresses with a clean, damp, soft cloth for 10-20 minutes at a time may help relieve the temporary discomfort. Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, or Tylenol can be taken as directed for pain. This is typically only needed within the first 12 hours after the treatment if needed at all. Freckles and sunspots may turn darker initially and then flake off within 7-14 days. This is a desired and normal reaction. DO NOT pick at the skin. There may be erythema (redness) and slight edema (swelling) around the treated vessels. Often, they are lighter in appearance and look somewhat smudgy or less defined. Some individuals may experience swelling post-treatment, especially around the eyes. This is normal and usually resolves within 3-5 days. In the unusual case of crusting of the skin in the treated area, an antibiotic ointment is applied twice a day to the affected areas. Delayed blistering secondary to sun exposure has been noted up to 72 hours post-treatment. The use of a physical sunscreen of SPF 50+ is required for at least four weeks post-treatment. If in the middle of a series of treatments, sun exposure should be avoided between treatments, and sunblock should be used daily. Avoid jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms/baths, or strenuous exercises or activities that cause sweating for 24 hours post-treatment due to increased sensitivity or up to 48 hours if inflammation exists. Patient response can vary after a BBL 420 nm Acne treatment. Erythema (redness) is usually noted within a few minutes after the completion of the procedure. A slight sunburn sensation in and around the area treated is also normal and expected. These reactions tend to subside within 1-4 hours after the treatment. The treated area must be treated with care. BE GENTLE! Do not scratch or pick at your skin. Until sensitivity has completely subsided and for at least 24 hours, avoid all of the following: Use of scented lotions or soaps, exfoliant creams (Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic and alpha-hydroxy acids), acne creams or gels, exfoliants, loofa sponges and aggressive scrubbing; Hot or cold water – wash with tepid water; Shaving; Swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine; Activities that cause excessive perspiration. A cold compress or an ice pack can be used to provide comfort if the treated area is especially warm. This is rarely needed, but if so, usually within the first 4 hours after the treatment. Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment as long as the skin is intact and there are no signs of blistering. Vitamin E or Aloe Vera applied to the treatment area may provide a soothing effect. Post-treatment discomfort is typically minimal, but if the area is uncomfortable, oral pain relievers, i.e., Tylenol or Advil, may be used. If the skin is broken or a blister appears, apply an antibiotic ointment and contact the office immediately. Keep the affected area moist and avoid direct sunlight. Strictly avoid any sun exposure to the treated area for a minimum of 7-14 days after the procedure. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change. Delayed blistering secondary to sun exposure has been noted up to 72 hours post-treatment. Subsequent treatments are based upon your clinician’s recommendation and are typically 1-2 treatments per week for at least four weeks or until acne clears. The number and frequency of treatments required will depend on the severity of your acne and how well it responds to treatment. Clinical studies suggest that at least two BBL 420 nm acne treatments are needed to begin to see results, and results have been reported to last up to 6 months. Please call the office at 208-395-1091 with any post-treatment questions or concerns.
Our providers ask that you wear loose and comfortable clothing to your CoolSculpting appointment, are properly hydrated before your treatment session, ensure that the skin in the area(s) to be treated is clean and free from any cuts, wounds, or lesions, remove all jewelry or piercings from the area(s) to be treated, not be pregnant, and allow photos and weight to be taken prior to the first session for the sake of pre- and post-treatment comparisons. In addition to the above instructions, we also make further recommendations for your comfort: Bring a spare set of clothes, as the gel pads applied with the applicator may make your clothes wet. Eat only a light meal, as some patients (in very rare cases) may feel slightly nauseated at the beginning of the treatment. Bring a mobile, tablet, or book to entertain yourself during the treatment session if you would like. If not, our rooms are equipped with Netflix for your convenience.
It may take anywhere between 35 minutes and a few hours, depending on the number and size of the area(s) to be treated. No topical anesthetic or pain medication is required. As treatment begins, vacuum pressure (which most of the CoolSculpting applicators utilize) draws in fatty tissue into the applicator cup. You may feel sensations of deep pulling, tugging, or pinching, as well as some stinging, tingling, aching, or cramping. These sensations typically subside as the area becomes numb and treatment continues. Most patients find the rest of the session quite tolerable.
Most patients can return to their day-to-day activities immediately after their CoolSculpting treatment session. Brief tingling or stinging sensations. You may experience stiffness and/or transient blanching (temporary whitening of the skin) in the treated area(s). Slight nausea or dizziness may occur for a few minutes as your body readjusts to its natural warmth and sensation. Redness in the treated area(s) may persist for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. Any bruising, swelling, numbness, and/or tenderness that occurs will resolve within two weeks. Measures that can be taken to alleviate discomfort post-treatment include Stretching and/or massage, applying compression garments to the treatment area, applying heating pads and/or ice to the treatment area (20 minutes on/ 40 minutes off), Tylenol for pain and Benadryl at night for itching per dosage and directions on medication label, and drinking plenty of water to help flush out your lymphatic system. Avoid ibuprofen and NSAIDs as they are anti-inflammatory, and the inflammation process helps break down the fat cells.
It is common for the treated area(s) to feel bloated or swollen in the first few weeks after treatment. A temporary dullness in sensation could occur for several weeks. At some point in the first two weeks after a treatment session, you may experience deep itching, tingling, numbness or tenderness to the touch, pain in the treated area(s), strong cramping, diarrhea, muscle spasms, aching, and/or soreness. Please contact our office if such symptoms persist or worsen after two weeks. In rare cases, patients have reported darker skin color, hardness, discrete nodules, freeze burn, enlargement of the treated area, hernia, or worsening of existing hernia following the CoolSculpting procedure. As the body breaks down and flushes the treated fat cells, a gradual reduction in the thickness of the fat layer in the treated area(s) will take place. You may start to see changes as early as three weeks after your last CoolSculpting treatment session, with full results becoming apparent after one to four months. Your body will continue to process and flush out the dead fat cells for about four months after your last session. Please call Sculpt Aesthetics at (208) 395-1091 if your symptoms appear to worsen, last longer than two weeks, or if you have any questions or concerns about your treatment.
To help reduce the chance of unwanted irritation and side effects and to maximize the benefits of your treatment, you must prepare your skin beforehand. Don’t exfoliate. Since a chemical peel is an in-depth exfoliation, it’s important that you don’t exfoliate for at least one week before your appointment. In addition, watch out for ingredients in your daily skincare products that may have an exfoliating effect. If you use such products prior to your treatment, you could cause damage to your skin. These products include but are not limited to topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, or other anti-aging, acne, and bleaching products. Avoid these one week prior to treatment as well. Please alert us if you are currently taking or have recently taken Accutane. Also, AVOID waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated. Refrain from using makeup. You want as little dirt on your face as possible before your peel, so take a break from wearing makeup for a few days before your treatment and let your skin detox! Avoid the sun. Most chemical peels respond better to skin that isn’t skin-damaged, so make an effort to avoid the sun as much as possible prior to your treatment, and if you are outside, make sure to wear a wide-brimmed hat and physical sunblock of at least SPF 30. Stay hydrated. Your skin should be well-hydrated on the day of your chemical peel.
Post-care treatment is aimed at preventing further irritation, inflammation, and infection from preventing further complications. You may GENTLY apply a cold compress (like a wet, cool washcloth) to the treated area(s) as needed for any burning or irritation associated with your treatment. Make sure to avoid excessive heat in the treated area and direct sun exposure of any kind, as well as tanning beds and self-tanners in the treated areas for four weeks after treatment. A broad-spectrum sunblock of SPF 30 or more is required. This is critical any time of year, even in the winter. After a chemical peel, it is important to avoid certain products that can irritate your skin, such as toners, astringents, and exfoliants. We recommend using gentle, fragrance-free cleansers and moisturizers to help soothe your skin. After the chemical peel, you should expect your skin to dry out and peel, similar to a sunburn. While it may be very tempting to pick and peel this dry skin, you definitely should NOT, as peeling away dead layers or picking at your skin can lead to infection and scarring. It is important to moisturize after a chemical peel, but be VERY gentle the first 48 hours post-treatment as you don’t want to manipulate the freshly treated sensitive skin. Please note that moisturizers will not prevent the peeling process, as it is part of the chemical peel process. You’ll be able to go back to your regular skincare routine once the peeling process is complete and your skin no longer feels sensitive – generally within a week of receiving your chemical peel. Avoid exfoliating for at least two weeks after the procedure. This includes using physical exfoliants such as scrubs or brushes, as well as chemical exfoliants such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), retinols, or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). Hot water can also cause irritation and inflammation of the skin, so it is important to take lukewarm showers for at least one week after the procedure. We recommend avoiding touching your face as much as possible after your treatment, as your hands are a great way to spread germs and cause blemishing. Makeup should be avoided for at least 48 hours after the procedure. If you must wear makeup, we recommend using a mineral-based foundation that is free of fragrances, dyes, and oils. Hot tubs/Jacuzzis and swimming pools should be avoided for at least one week after the procedure as these can contain bacteria that can lead to infection. It is important to avoid any other facial treatments, such as facials, waxing, or laser treatments, for at least two weeks after the procedure. It is important to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours after the procedure. Avoid direct heat, such as saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs, for at least one week after the procedure. Smoking/vaping should be avoided for at least 24 hours after the procedure, as this can cause further irritation and inflammation of the skin and lead to infection. Drinking plenty of water can help keep your skin hydrated and healthy after a chemical peel. We recommend drinking at least eight glasses of water a day. After the procedure, it is important to take it easy and avoid any strenuous activities that can cause further irritation and inflammation of the skin. Please review your consents and advise your provider of any changes in your medical history or current health. Dermaplaning uses a sterilized surgical blade to remove fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face and provide light exfoliation. We recommend combining this treatment with Medical Grade Skincare to obtain optimal results. Discontinue the use of topical products that may increase skin sensitivity, such as retinols, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, acids that may be drying or irritating to the skin (such as alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acids (BHA), exfoliating masks, salicylic acids, hydroquinone, and benzoyl peroxide acne products, etc.) a minimum of 3 days prior unless otherwise directed by your provider. On the day of your treatment, please arrive with clean skin, free of makeup and topical products.
Avoid touching the area treated. If you must touch the area, thoroughly wash hands prior to reduce the risk of transferring bacteria to the freshly treated skin. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or tanning after treatment, and apply physical sunscreen as needed. It is recommended to clean makeup, brushes, lows, or other items that may come in contact with the face to reduce the risk of contamination or infection. In the days post-treatment, you may notice minor flaking of the skin; this is normal. DO NOT pick at the skin. Keep the skin moisturized and allow the skin to heal naturally. Do not force exfoliation. If you experience a minor breakout post-treatment, alert your provider, and they may recommend a topical or oral product depending on the severity and type of breakout. We recommend combining this treatment with Medical Grade Skincare for optimal results. The use of a physical sunscreen SPF 30+ is required for at least a week post-treatment.
